Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrent enrollment offers the opportunity for junior and senior students at Indiahoma High School to take college courses at Cameron University or Western Oklahoma State College. Students may take classes in the morning, afternoon, evening, or on-line. On-line courses may also be taken through any college of your choice. Several colleges offer short intercession courses during certain months of the year. Ask your counselor for more information.

Cameron University

Students must meet the following requirements in order to be admitted to Cameron University:

  • Seniors:  ACT composite score of 20 or higher (SAT score of 940) or 3.0 GPA and rank in the top 50% or high school graduating class
  • Juniors:  ACT composite score of 23 or higher (SAT score of 1060) or 3.5 GPA

Students meeting the above requirements must submit the following documentation (available in the counselor's office) to the Office of Admissions at Cameron:

  1. Application for admission and $15 application fee
  2. Official high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores
  3. High School Verification Form 

Note:  In order to enroll in curricular areas (English, math, or science), students must achieve a minimum ACT score of 19 on the corresponding subtest or overall SAT score of 890. A minimum ACT score of 19 must be achieved on the reading subtest or an overlal minimum SAT score of 890 to enroll in any other subject (history, psychology, humanities, speech, etc.).

Tuition waivers are available to Seniors who maintain a 2.0 college GPA for up to 6 credit hours per semester while concurrently enrolled.  Juniors who obtain a minimum ACT composite score of 26 (SAT score of 1170) and maintain a high school GPA of 3.0 may receive a tuition waiver ofr up to 6 credit hours per semester as long as they maintain a 3.0 college GPA. Students are responsible for all other costs which may include fees, books, parking permit, student ID, and any other associated expenses.

 

Western Oklahoma State College:

Tuition Waiver Scholarship Available for High School Seniors
Seniors who are eligible to enroll as concurrent students are eligible to receive a tuition waiver scholarship. This tuition waiver scholarship is for tuition only with a maximum of 6 credit hours per semester.

Western Oklahoma State College's tuition is currently $56.50 per semester hour, which means that qualifying high school seniors can potentially save $678 for the fall and spring semesters.

Students will be responsible for paying all enrollment fees, which total $32.25 per semester credit hour. In other words, a student could expect to pay $96.75 per three-hour course--in addition to the cost of a book and supplies.

Concurrent Enrollment Criteria
Concurrent enrollment is the opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to earn college credit while still in high school.

High School Seniors qualify for concurrent enrollment by

  1. Earning an ACT composite of 19 or higher
  2. OR having a high school grade point average of 3.0
  3. Additionally, students must have earned an ACT score of 19 in the curricular area in which they wish to enroll.

High School Juniors qualify for concurrent enrollment by

  1. Earning an ACT composite of 21 or higher
  2. OR having a high school grade point average of 3.5
  3. Additionally, students must have earned an ACT score of 19 in the curricular area in which they wish to enroll.

A student may continue enrollment at Western Oklahoma State College or may transfer credits to another institution in the Oklahoma state system, provided that the student has achieved a college grade point average of 2.0.

To remain eligible for concurrent enrollment, a student must meet the minimum criteria:

  1. Maintain a 2.0 grade point average in all college courses.
  2. Remain enrolled in at least three semester hours in college.

Concurrent Enrollment Procedures

  1. Complete and submit an application for admission. A one-time $15 application fee is charged at the time of enrollment in courses.
  2. Submit a High School Enrollment Verification Form .
  3. Submit an Official high school transcript and ACT score.
  4. Submit a copy of your High School Class Schedule.
